As the earth reawakens in Spring, so does our spirit for creation. We are absolutely thrilled to unveil 'Ostara', our upcoming Spring + Earth collection. Set to be released on May 10th, this collection draws from the essence of spring, merging the rich, fertile ground of creativity with the symbolic significance of the plant and animal kingdoms and their magic.
Plant Magic
Plants are not only central to our survival; they have been our companions throughout history. They feed us, heal us, beautify our environments, and inspire us with their resilience. They are symbols of growth and vitality, reminding us that, no matter the harshness of the winter, spring comes again, offering new beginnings and fresh possibilities.
One of the central themes of this collection is the intimate relationship between humans and plants. Inspired by Michael Pollan’s "The Botany of Desire," each piece in the collection reflects on how plants have woven themselves into the very fabric of human existence, not just by meeting our basic needs but by appealing to our deepest desires for beauty, wellness, sweetness, and transformation.
Highlighting plants like the daffodil—a symbol of rebirth and new beginnings—and jasmine, known for its intoxicating fragrance and soothing properties, each piece of jewelry echoes the essence of growth and transformation. We also feature trillium and lemon balm, which bring to life the vibrant yet tranquil spirit of spring.
Nods to Nettle and Mullein leaves honors the traditional uses of these plants in healing and folklore. Damiana and poppies add layers of mystical allure, embodying the dual themes of love and sleep, while oak leaves stand as timeless emblems of strength and endurance.
Animal Magnetism
While the plant kingdom is a major inspiration for this collection, we would be remiss if we didn't make mention of the vital role that animals play in the death and renewal aspect of this collection.
In our last blog we spoke about the significance of the snake, often revered for its shedding skin and symbolizing transformation and renewal. While we included living snake design elements, we also included casts of their bones as well as coyote claws. The imagery of a snake's vertebrae in our collection serves as a potent reminder of this capacity for endless renewal and the cycle of life. Similarly, the coyote, known for its cunning and survival skills, teaches us about the importance of flexibility and intelligence in navigating life's unpredictable paths.
Together, these symbols underscore the message that just as seasons change and animals adapt, we too can and should embrace the cycles of our lives, using our experiences to evolve continually. Each piece in this collection is not only decorative adornment, but a talisman of personal growth and renewal.
This Friday, as we unveil the Spring + Earth collection, we invite you to explore the magic woven into each jewelry design and find a piece that resonates with your spirit. As we continue to navigate through our own cycles of life and reinvention, let us always find inspiration in the natural world, and may this collection be a gateway to embracing your true self, grounded in the strength and beauty of the earth.
The Moon
Last, but certainly not least is the Moon. A force of nature that has held a significant place in human history, serving as a powerful symbol across various cultures for thousands of years. Traditionally, it has been associated with the rhythmic cycles of life and nature, mirroring the ebbs and flows that characterize the human experience. The lunar phases have guided agricultural practices, religious festivals, and communal rituals, anchoring human activities to the celestial dance. This connection underscores a deep, intuitive relationship between humans and the natural world, where the moon acts as a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the interconnectivity of all things on Earth. The enduring fascination with the moon speaks to its role not just as a celestial body, but as a cultural symbol that continues to inspire and guide humanity.
New Shopping Feature: "Name your own size"
We are also very excited to announce a brand new shopping benefit for our customers, "Name your own Size". The first weekend that our collection is available, you will be able to purchase any ring in the collection and choose the size you want. A long time struggle of ours has been trying to figure out what sizes to make our one-of-a-kind rings, but we finally hope to have found a solution and that the limitations of ring sizing is never an issue for you again. Resizing the rings will add a production time, but we think its a small price to pay for a bespoke ring.
