As we conclude a year of celebrating the seasons and elements, I am thrilled to introduce the final collection in our series, "Light as a Feather." This collection honors Fall and the element of Air but with a unique twist. Instead of embracing traditional autumnal themes like warm tones and falling leaves, we ventured into the liminal, the spiritual, and the transcendent—focusing on what lies beyond the veil.
"Light as a Feather" draws its name from feathers—symbols of freedom, transcendence, and the spirit realms. The name also references the playful, mystical game "Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board," often associated with levitation and summoning levity. While inspired by fall, this collection is a meditation on air as the element of freedom and spirit, bringing forth the mystical and unseen energies rather than the usual warmth of autumn.
Behind the scenes, I approached this collection with a deep connection to liminal spaces—the spiritual in-between where transformation occurs. I found inspiration in symbols like feathers, flying brooms (representing flight and freedom), and swords (a tarot symbol for air, intellect, and truth). The organic shapes in the designs also evoke the way incense smoke curls and twists freely, symbolizing the movement of the unseen.
The stones chosen for this collection are not only aesthetically aligned with the designs but also spiritually charged with properties that help amplify intuition, enhance meditative practices, and support spiritual connection and communication. Clear Quartz and Tourmalated Quartz, known for their energy amplification, offer clarity and grounding. Amethyst promotes peace and intuitive insight, while Opal and Oplite heighten creativity and connection to spirit guides. Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite, Smoky Quartz, and Citrine also make appearances, bringing energies of transformation, grounding, and protection.
Designing this collection was a beautiful, introspective process. It’s the culmination of a year where I felt called to explore the seasons and elements and how they mirror our lives, each collection becoming and important and cathartic part of my journey. We began this cycle with "Winter Magic" in February, honoring Winter and Water, then moved into the earthiness of Spring with "Ostara." Summer brought us the fiery energy of "Alectrona," and now we finish with Air, as "Light as a Feather" takes flight.
The past year’s themed collections have been a significant chapter for Acid Queen Jewelry. I loved the creative process, how it pushed me to dive deeper into storytelling, symbolism, and my own personal journey. Each collection wasn’t just about jewelry but about embodying the spirit of the elements and seasons, connecting back to not only Earth energies but ourselves as well. For its when we connect back to ourselves spiritually is when we are fully able to step into our personal power. While this is the last collection of the year inspired by the seasons and elements, I am thrilled about the next phase for Acid Queen. The journey continues as we lean into what’s next!
