October brings us into the time of year when the veil between the earthly plane and spiritual realm becomes paper thin. The summer blooms push out the last of their flowers, as the stems they stand on fade from green to brown. Creation and decay stand side by side, symbolizing the balance of Libra Season, and the death + rebirth themes of Eclipse season. As the Sun transits Libra, we focus on our relatability to the world and people around us. With Venus also in Libra, this is a season for seeking beauty in the simple pleasures and letting it pour life into our creative energies. There is an understanding that our vitality is strengthened when we are in harmonious cooperation with all things. Finding equilibrium takes work, and the constant weighing of scales can get you stuck in indecisiveness if you forget to take a step back.
Communication for the month is in constant flux, with the energy picking up on October 2nd as Mercury stations direct in Virgo. As we find ourselves back in Virgo territory, we are able to organize our thoughts and problem solve current situations that might have gotten off track during the retrograde. This week-long transit switches up again by the 10th when Mercury enters socially minded Libra. Now we have the opportunity to take everything that we learned during retrograde into consideration when weighing out our decisions.
By the second week of October, the energy continues the theme of forward motion as Pluto stations direct motion in Capricorn, after 5 months of retrograde. After a time of inner reflection, we slowly build momentum to face deep truths, as we move them out of the darkness and into the light. Globally, we shift towards transformational action as we start tackling the big problems. We’ve witnessed a lot of misuse of power in a short period of time, now we begin to formulate action.
On the following day (10/9), the Full Moon in 16 º Aries illuminates the sky and opposes the Sun in Libra. With this lunation taking place on the relationship axis, there are conflicting energies surrounding your needs, versus the needs of others. With the Sun in close proximity to Venus, and the Moon in close contact to Chiron Rx, we can expect themes of deep healing surrounding our self-worth, personal values, and authenticity; especially in regard to how we do relationships. Mercury and Jupiter Rx will oppose one another for the third time since last month, illuminating a missing piece of information, or possibly requiring you to defend something you previously said. Cardinal signs, (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) you will be feeling this one.
By the third week of October the energy really starts to intensify as we move through some hard transits. Mercury completely exits his retro-shade period by the 17th and frees us of any lingering Rx energy, but the 18th- 20th brings forceful energy. Both the Sun and Venus form a square to Pluto, while Mercury opposes Chiron Rx. Intense experiences within relationships or otherwise can trigger deep rooted pain or turn into mega conflict. Words can really hurt, and you may find yourself needing to make a big change.
That same week, both the Sun and Venus enter Scorpio on the 23rd, while Mercury follows suit on the 29th. Scorpio season has a way of emotionally stripping us down to the bare bones, making it a powerful time for transformation. We can feel as if we are digging deep into our own psyches in an attempt to see what we are really made of. Shadow work is key, as the feelings come up, take time to acknowledge the good, the bad and the ugly, so we can assess and release the parts of us that no longer serve a purpose. The highs are high, the lows are low, but we emerge with a stronger sense of healing and clarity.
Venus is not super happy here as the energy of Scorpio can be hard for her to work with. Interactions within relationships become supercharged as we lean towards wanting to feel our emotions in an extreme way. It’s harder to be up front with how we feel, which can lead you towards stirring up chaos or engaging in power plays as a way to get your feelings out. One thing she does really well with is sex, so you may find that area of your life getting extra attention.
Saturn stations direct motion on the 23rd after 5 months of retrograde. After months of internal focus, the energy is turned outward, and we begin to see areas of life undergo structural changes. If your vision has changed over the past few months, we now start seeing the results start to manifest in a tangible way.
The last week of October goes out with a powerful bang as the New Moon, Partial Solar Eclipse in Scorpio happens on the 25th, bringing unexpected changes and opportunities surrounding themes that began in November 2021. Eclipses bring fated, course-correcting events that push us towards our karmic destiny, while bringing endings of old chapters and beginnings of new ones. While Eclipses are impactful for everyone, Scorpio, and the rest of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Aquarius) placements will feel this most significantly. This is the first of two Eclipses, with the Total Solar Eclipse following up on November 8th. Eclipse energy is very active 2 weeks before, and 2 weeks after, but creates energetic themes that will be with you for the next 18thmonths.
On Oct. 30th, Mars in Gemini will station retrograde for a whopping 7 months! During this time, it can feel as if you are wearing many hats, juggling multiple things, but there is a need to remember to slow down and double check. Disagreements and heated conversations can easily be sparked, creating a “war of words”. It’s important to watch how and what you say in all forms of communication. If you have significant Gemini placements, this is a transit that you will want to pay attention to.
This is a month that is extremely unpredictable and energetically packed as Retrograde Season slides us into Eclipse Season. For 2 years now, we’ve been dealing with a Saturn/Uranus square that has shown the collective where we need to question and tear down old belief structures, in the name of social progression. From October 14th-24th this square will once again become exact. As a result, we can expect to see and feel tensions rising on a global scale that will carry us into the final months of the year. As you face challenges or unexpected energies, it’s important to remember that we are in the midst of changes that are necessary for our highest evolution. With every ending, a new beginning follows, and catapults us into the next chapter of creation.
Happy Eclipse Season!
With love,
Emily
