The Hunter's Moon reaches full at 12:11 am Eastern on Monday, October 26 (9:11 pm Pacific on Sunday the 25th, which is when we will be outside with it). It is a full moon in Taurus under a Scorpio sun, and that pairing asks one question: what do you actually want to keep? Here is what this moon is about, the three stones we reach for, and the short, grounded ritual we use in the studio.

What a Taurus full moon asks

Taurus is fixed earth, ruled by Venus. It is the body, the bank account, the garden, the bed you sleep in: the things you can touch and the things you own. Where Scorpio goes under the surface, Taurus stays on it and asks whether the surface is any good. Are you fed. Are you rested. Is what you have built worth holding.

A full moon is the Sun and the Moon facing each other across the sky, and this one puts the Scorpio Sun (what is shared, hidden, ending) opposite the Taurus Moon (what is yours, solid, lasting). Every full moon is a culmination, the moment something that began at a new moon shows itself in full light. With Taurus holding the Moon, what shows up is usually material: money, the body, your home, your sense of security, and whatever you have been clinging to because letting go feels like losing.

That is the tension. Scorpio season wants you to release (we wrote about what Scorpio season asks a few days ago). Taurus wants you to keep. The Hunter's Moon does not resolve it for you. It makes you choose, item by item, and it rewards the honest answer over the dramatic one. Some things are worth keeping. Say which.

Why it is called the Hunter's Moon

The Hunter's Moon is the traditional name for the full moon that follows the Harvest Moon, the one closest to the autumn equinox. The fields were cut, the game was easier to see across them, and the old stories say the moon rose early and bright enough to hunt by. I like that this year it lands in Taurus, the sign of provisions and the long winter table. It is a stocking-up moon. Count what you have. Decide what gets you through.

Stones for a full moon in Taurus

Three stones, one job each.

Rainbow moonstone

Rainbow moonstone is a feldspar, and its glow (adularescence, light scattering inside the stone's layered structure) is the closest thing a mineral has to moonlight. It is the stone of the lunar cycle itself, worn for intuition and for new beginnings, and it is the one I put on for every full moon regardless of sign. In Taurus it does something specific: it loosens the grip. If you are holding something out of fear rather than love, moonstone is the stone we reach for to tell the difference. The Vela Ring carries a rainbow moonstone in sterling silver and is built as a stacker, so it is an easy ring to leave on for the whole lunar month.

Clear quartz

Clear quartz is silicon dioxide, a 7 on the Mohs scale, and the plainest stone we work with, which is exactly why it is useful. In practice it is the amplifier: it holds whatever intention you give it and makes the stones around it louder. For a full moon ritual it is the one you charge. Set it out under the moon, hold it while you speak, carry it after.

Garnet

Garnet is a family of silicate minerals; the deep reds we set are usually almandine or pyrope. It is January's birthstone and, by long tradition, a traveler's stone, worn for staying power and for the warmth that keeps a person moving through the cold. Garnet is the most Taurus stone on this list. It is earth that holds fire. We reach for it when the work is not letting go but staying put: keeping a commitment, feeding the thing you decided to keep.

A Hunter's Moon ritual (fifteen minutes, outside if you can)

Taurus is the body, so this ritual lives in the body. No altar required.

  1. Go outside, or to a window, where you can see the moon. Stand still for one full minute. Feel your feet. Taurus starts there.
  2. Hold your stone. Moonstone if you are still deciding, garnet if you have decided, quartz if you want to hold the whole thing. Say out loud three things you have that you are keeping. Real things: a person, a practice, a room, a habit. Say why, in one sentence each.
  3. Name one thing you have been keeping that is only weight. Not the big dramatic one. The small one you keep tripping over. Say that you are putting it down. Then put something down, literally: a stone, a ring, your keys. Taurus understands gesture.
  4. Eat something. I mean it. A full moon in Taurus is the moon of the table, and finishing a ritual with food is the most Taurus thing you can do. Then put your ring back on and go to bed with it.

In the studio

I think about the Taurus and Scorpio axis a lot, because it is the axis this studio sits on. Scorpio is the concept: the archetype, the myth, the question every collection starts from. Taurus is the bench: wax, metal, the stone chosen first and the form built around it, by hand, by two metalsmiths, with no production line between the idea and your hand. Every piece we make is one of those decisions about what is worth keeping. The Moon Phase Shield Ring exists because the whole cycle, dark phase included, seemed worth carrying on one finger. Questions we get about the Hunter's Moon

What time is the full moon on October 26, 2026? The Moon is exactly full at 12:11 am Eastern on Monday, October 26, which is 9:11 pm Pacific on Sunday, October 25. It will look full on both the Sunday and Monday nights, so do your ritual on whichever night is clear. We go out the night it peaks.

What crystals should I use for a full moon in Taurus? Rainbow moonstone for the lunar cycle and for intuition, clear quartz to hold and amplify your intention, and garnet for the Taurus work of keeping and staying. Any one of the three is enough. Black onyx is a good fourth if the Scorpio side of this moon is loud for you and you want something that grounds.

Can I charge my jewelry under the Hunter's Moon? Yes, and the full moon is the night we do it. Set your pieces on a windowsill or outside on a cloth from moonrise until morning. Bring them in before the dew settles, and never leave anything out in the rain. Our full moon cleansing guide covers each method.

Keep what feeds you. Put down what does not. The moon will be full again either way, and so will you.
